The Brief

Submission must be of A3 size and submitted in soft copy (CD) labeled with registration
code. Submissions should include:
• Idea and development concept sketches
• Presentation drawings (General Arrangement – Orthographic Projection)
• Technical drawings (Exploded Views – Isometric Projection)
• Write up “Design Description” – not more than 500 words

Judging Criteria

1. Visceral Beauty
• The attractiveness of the design concept
2. Functionality
• Fulfilling its intended functions and reliability of the concept
3. Design Concept Quality
• Demonstration of quality of concept with regards to durability, manufacturing process,
materials used, etc.
4. Product Innovativeness
• Degree of creativity of design concept and improvements which benefit users
5. Originality
• Novelty and uniqueness of the design
6. Commercial Potential
• Market acceptance and cost efficiency in production
7. Eco Traits
• Level of consideration for the environment (i.e. carbon footprint)

Eligibility Requirements

The competition is open to all students from Malaysian universities, colleges or institutes of
higher learning who are attending the following course types:
•Industrial Design / Product Design
•Architecture
•Engineering (Mechatronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, etc.)

Terms and Conditions

Entries must be original, non-commissioned work, and has yet to be commercialized, displayed
or shown to any outside parties.

Entries should not have won any awards in similar contests held previously and must not be
submitted concurrently to other competitions.

No amendments may be made to the entries after they have been submitted to the Organizer.

The Organizer shall not be held responsible for any losses or damages incurred to the entries in
any unforeseen circumstances.

Unsuccessful submissions shall not be returned and shall be disposed.

Short-listed submissions will become the intellectual property of the Organizers.

Infringement on the copyright of the entries from 3rd parties will be the responsibilities of the
participants.

Participants will be disqualified if they are found to have violated any rules and regulations.

Solartech Sales and Services Sdn Bhd reserves all rights to reject and revoke any entries and
prizes.

All correspondence will be done via the website and e-mail. Solartech Sales and Services Sdn
Bhd will not entertain any queries by phone.

Solartech Sales and Services Sdn Bhd reserves the right to change the details without prior
notice, however, participants will be updated by e-mail from time to time.
